Excellent articulation of what many of us are going through. The science is about as settled as it could be, so this is not simply a difference of opinion. We are past the point of breaking bread with people who are fine taking money to see the world burn. I just had a frank discussion on what would be necessary to rebuild, and it was not fun.
Also, the sufficient condition to be a good person in relation to cats is to both rescue them and dress them up.
Our public health system has been in terrible shape for decades; a pandemic comes, money might pour in, just to be taken back as soon as a crisis ends. But the current administration has almost destroyed the little we had. (We tend to support individual health and lay aside the structural constraints on health. Civility, hell no! Satire might work best. Jonathan Swift's "Modest Proposal: would seem appropriate...after all, Kennedy Jr., by his policies, really is asking parents to eat their children.
